Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Hospital Porter. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to begin a career in healthcare without prior experience. We provide full training to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of the hospital, ensuring the smooth and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and supplies. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds between various departments (e.g., rooms, diagnostic areas, operating theaters).
  • Assist with the movement and setup of medical equipment and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Deliver specimens, medications, and other important items to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning and sanitizing transport equipment after each use.
  • Respond promptly to requests from nursing staff and other hospital personnel.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff, providing comfort and reassurance as needed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and patient safety protocols.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards patients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role (not required, but a plus).
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology (beneficial but not required, training provided).
