Job Description

Hastings Hotels is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Catering Prep Hands to join our culinary operations in the vibrant Titanic Quarter of Belfast. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Ensuring kitchen areas are clean, tidy, and organized at all times, adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
- Washing and sanitizing kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations thoroughly and regularly.
- Receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies, checking for quality, quantity, and proper temperature.
- Adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards as mandated by company policy and local regulations.
- Supporting the culinary team in various ad-hoc tasks as required to maintain smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Working collaboratively and communicating effectively with all team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and understanding.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a diverse team.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20kg) as needed.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new tasks and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2) or a willingness to obtain one upon starting.
- Prior experience in a kitchen or catering environment, even informal or voluntary.
- Enthusiasm for food preparation, cooking, and the culinary arts.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment.
