Job Description

Join Veolia’s dedicated team in Swansea as a Street Sweeper / Cleaner, providing crucial support to local council initiatives. This stable, full-time position involves maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of public spaces, ensuring a high standard of environmental hygiene across various areas of the city. You will be an integral part of our community services, contributing directly to the well-being and visual appeal of Swansea. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual street sweeping and litter picking in designated areas.
  • Operate small mechanical equipment like leaf blowers or power washers safely and effectively.
  • Empty public litter bins and replace liners as needed.
  • Report any hazards, damage, or incidents observed during work to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the removal of fly-tipping and other debris.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in all public areas, including pavements, parks, and pathways.
  • Engage politely and professionally with members of the public while on duty.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing/walking.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines relevant to outdoor work.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a cleaning, grounds maintenance, or similar outdoor role.
  • Full UK driving licence (Category B).
  • Knowledge of local Swansea area streets and public spaces.
  • Familiarity with operating basic cleaning and waste management equipment.
