Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Hotel Porter to join our vibrant team at Hilton York. In this crucial role, you will be the first and last point of contact for many of our guests, responsible for providing a warm welcome and efficient assistance throughout their stay. You will handle luggage, provide information, and ensure the smooth flow of arrivals and departures, contributing significantly to our reputation for outstanding guest satisfaction. This is a direct hire opportunity, perfect for individuals passionate about hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests upon arrival and assist with loading and unloading luggage from vehicles.
  • Escort guests to their rooms, providing assistance with luggage and offering information about hotel facilities and services.
  • Store and retrieve luggage securely for guests as required.
  • Handle guest requests and inquiries promptly and professionally, directing them to appropriate departments when necessary.
  • Assist with the delivery of items to guest rooms (e.g., newspapers, extra amenities).
  • Maintain a tidy and welcoming hotel entrance and lobby area.
  • Assist with minor errands and provide support to other hotel departments as needed.
  • Ensure guest safety and security by following all hotel procedures.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 20kg).
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role.
  • Knowledge of the local area and attractions in York.
  • A valid UK driving licence (useful for occasional errands).
