Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and hands-on Shipping Crate Builder (Mate) to join our team in Richmond, CA. This role is essential for ensuring the safe and secure transport of various goods by constructing custom wooden crates and pallets. The ideal candidate will have experience with woodworking tools, particularly nail guns, and a keen eye for detail. You will work closely with our logistics and shipping departments to provide high-quality packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct custom wooden crates, boxes, and pallets according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate various woodworking tools, including pneumatic nail guns, saws, and measuring devices, safely and efficiently.
  • Measure and cut wood pieces accurately to ensure precise fit and structural integrity of crates.
  • Inspect finished crates for quality, durability, and compliance with shipping standards.
  • Assist with loading and securing materials onto crates for shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet production deadlines.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating pneumatic nail guns and other common woodworking tools.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and woodworking techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (1+ year) in a manufacturing, carpentry, or shipping environment.
  • Experience with forklift operation (certification a plus).
  • Familiarity with various types of wood and their properties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
