Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Day Surgery Porter to join our busy team at The Cherwell Hospital in Banbury. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent physical stamina and a compassionate approach. Working primarily morning shifts, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients, equipment, and supplies within our day surgery unit. You will be a vital part of the patient journey, providing comfort and support during what can be a stressful time for them.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients safely and comfortably between wards, departments, and operating theatres.
- Assisting nursing staff with patient transfers, ensuring dignity and safety at all times.
- Moving equipment, medical records, and specimens as required.
- Ensuring the clean and tidy state of all communal areas and patient waiting areas.
- Collecting and delivering laundry, waste, and other supplies.
- Responding promptly to requests from medical and nursing staff.
- Maintaining a high standard of infection control and hygiene.
- Providing a friendly and reassuring presence for patients.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients/equipment safely.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques.
- First Aid qualification.
