Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mastering Engineer to join our cutting-edge audio production team. This critical role involves the final stage of audio production, ensuring that all musical content meets the highest standards of sonic quality, consistency, and playback across various formats and platforms. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional ear, deep technical knowledge of audio mastering principles, and proficiency with industry-standard software and hardware. You will collaborate closely with mixing engineers, artists, and A&R teams to bring musical visions to their ultimate sonic potential. This is an on-site position in our state-of-the-art facility in Aurora, Colorado.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform audio mastering for a diverse range of musical genres and projects.
  • Apply expert judgment to dynamics processing, equalization, stereo imaging, and other mastering techniques.
  • Ensure sonic consistency and competitive loudness levels while preserving artistic intent.
  • Prepare master files in various formats (e.g., WAV, AIFF, DDP, high-resolution audio) according to industry specifications.
  • Conduct quality control checks and perform critical listening sessions.
  • Maintain and calibrate mastering studio equipment and software.
  • Collaborate effectively with mixing engineers, producers, and artists to achieve desired sonic outcomes.
  • Stay current with evolving audio technologies, software, and industry best practices.
  • Archive master files and project documentation meticulously.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional audio mastering experience.
  • Exceptional critical listening skills and a highly trained ear.
  • Profound understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and digital audio theory.
  • Expertise with mastering software (e.g., Izotope Ozone, FabFilter Pro-Q 3, Weiss DS1-MK3) and DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live).
  • Proficiency with high-end analog and digital mastering hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of audio file formats, sample rates, bit depths, and delivery specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Certifications from recognized audio engineering programs.
  • Experience with surround sound and immersive audio mastering formats.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a wide range of successfully mastered projects.
