Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Transit Lead to optimize and manage our complex internal and external transit and logistics operations within a high-stakes, high-salary sector environment. This critical role demands a strategic leader capable of overseeing the efficient, secure, and timely movement of materials, components, and potentially personnel across various domestic and international nodes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing long-term transit strategies, implementing cutting-edge logistics solutions, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while driving cost efficiency and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive transit strategies aligned with company objectives and supply chain demands.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of logistics and transit professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of third-party logistics (3PL) providers and carriers.
- Implement advanced tracking, monitoring, and reporting systems to ensure visibility and control over all transit activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant domestic and international trade regulations, customs requirements, and security protocols.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in the transit pipeline, including delays, damage, and security breaches.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize service levels.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, and legal departments to ensure seamless integration of transit operations.
- Manage budget and financial performance for the transit department, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
- Present regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain management, or transit operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of strategic planning and execution in complex, global logistics environments.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and transportation security standards.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on coaching and development.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in logistics software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and drive cost-efficiency initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, MBA, or a related advanced degree.
- Professional certifications such as CSCP, PMP, or equivalent.
- Experience within the aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing industries.
- Proficiency with SAP or other major ERP systems.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
