Job Description

Join Foundation Health Partners as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician on our night shift team. This critical role involves supporting our pharmacists in providing timely and accurate medication services to inpatient units. You will be responsible for medication preparation, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. We are looking for a certified pharmacy technician with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety. This position offers a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates looking to make a difference in a dynamic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications and supplies, conducting regular stock checks and managing returns.
  • Perform medication reconciliation, charge capture, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Assist with the delivery of medications to various inpatient units, ensuring timely and secure transport.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures regarding medication handling and patient safety.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems, including automated dispensing cabinets and compounding equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification (PTCB or NHA)
  • Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license or eligibility for licensure
  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or inpatient setting
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy software and automated dispensing systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sterile compounding (IV preparation)
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system
  • Prior experience working night shifts in a healthcare setting
  • Associate's degree in a related field
