Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Materials Chemist to join our advanced prototype development team. This role is critical in driving the next generation of material solutions for our cutting-edge products. The successful candidate will lead the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel materials, from concept to pilot-scale production. You will work within a dynamic R&D environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and product development to accelerate the commercialization of new technologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel polymeric and composite materials for various applications.
  • Develop and optimize experimental methodologies for material synthesis, processing, and performance evaluation.
  • Drive the transition of new materials from laboratory scale to pilot and production scale, including process optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and integrate new technologies and scientific advancements.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior chemists and engineers.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and patent applications.
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of industrial experience in materials development, with a strong focus on polymers or composites.
  • Proven expertise in materials synthesis, characterization techniques (e.g., NMR, IR, GPC, DSC, TGA, SEM, TEM, XRD), and structure-property relationships.
  • Experience with process scale-up and technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with rheology and mechanical testing of polymeric materials.
  • Familiarity with computational materials science and data analytics tools.
  • Track record of patents or significant publications in materials science.
  • Knowledge of tire or automotive industry materials requirements.
