Job Description
Join the Waitrose & Partners team as a Harvest Quality Controller. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to learn about quality assurance in the food industry. We provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills needed to inspect and pick fresh produce, ensuring it meets our high standards for freshness, appearance, and overall quality. You will play a crucial role in our supply chain, directly contributing to the excellence our customers expect from Waitrose & Partners. This position is on-site and involves working closely with our harvest and distribution teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of various fresh produce items upon arrival, or during harvest/picking processes.
- Identify and report any quality defects, damage, or inconsistencies according to established specifications.
- Ensure correct sorting and segregation of produce based on quality grades.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection results and communicate findings to relevant team members.
- Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
- Participate actively in all provided training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Operate basic equipment safely as required for inspection or handling.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot imperfections.
- Good basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
