Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Intake Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves being the first point of contact for patients, families, and referring providers, ensuring a smooth and compassionate intake process. The successful candidate will manage inquiries, verify insurance information, schedule appointments, and maintain accurate patient records, all while upholding our commitment to patient-centered care. This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new patient inquiries, referrals, and general information.
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, collecting necessary medical, demographic, and insurance information.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations as required.
- Schedule initial appointments and follow-up visits, coordinating with clinical staff and patient availability.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring providers regarding intake status and next steps.
- Resolve patient concerns or direct them to appropriate personnel in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
- Assist with other administrative duties as needed to support the clinic's operations.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion when interacting with patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) credential.
- Experience with Epic EHR system.
