Job Description

We are seeking a highly meticulous and dedicated Pharmaceutical Transcriber to join our dynamic research and laboratory team in Berkeley, CA. In this critical role, you will be responsible for accurately transcribing scientific data, experimental notes, meeting minutes, and other crucial documentation from various audio and written sources within our pharmaceutical research environment. Your work will directly support our scientists and researchers, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of vital information that drives our discovery and development processes. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of scientific and medical terminology, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy and data confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe audio recordings of laboratory experiments, research meetings, interviews, and scientific discussions with precision and speed.
  • Convert handwritten or scanned notes into digital text format, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and scientific accuracy.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) regarding sensitive research information.
  • Organize and manage transcribed files and documents efficiently for easy retrieval by research teams.
  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to clarify ambiguities and ensure the correct interpretation of specialized terminology.
  • Operate and troubleshoot transcription software and equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of transcription guidelines and best practices within the department.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 WPM).
  • Proven ability to understand and accurately transcribe complex scientific and medical terminology.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain focus for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences) or related discipline.
  • Previous experience (1+ years) in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research setting.
  • Familiarity with various audio transcription software and tools.
  • Experience working with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
