Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Assurance Chemist to join our dynamic team in Thousand Oaks, CA. This role is crucial in ensuring that all our food and beverage products meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry within the food and beverage industry, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of product integrity. You will be responsible for conducting various chemical analyses, managing quality control processes, and collaborating with production teams to implement corrective actions. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical equipment such as HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, and titrators.
  • Interpret analytical data, prepare accurate reports, and communicate findings to relevant departments.
  • Investigate out-of-specification results, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and validate new analytical methods as needed to support product development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA regulations, USDA standards, and internal quality policies.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Regulatory Affairs teams to resolve quality issues and implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain detailed and organized laboratory records and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a QA/QC Chemist in the food and beverage industry.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectrophotometers).
  • Strong understanding of food safety principles, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Familiarity with sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems.
