Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Technical Writer to join our documentation and support team, focusing on critical Google products and services. In this 100% remote role, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that empowers developers, partners, and end-users. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and support teams to identify documentation needs, gather information, and translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation for various Google products and platforms.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and support teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity of documentation.
- Translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content for diverse audiences, including developers, administrators, and end-users.
- Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and enhancements.
- Contribute to the development of documentation standards, style guides, and best practices.
- Conduct user research and gather feedback to continuously improve documentation effectiveness.
- Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
- Provide support to internal teams by clarifying technical details and documentation.
- Participate in product reviews and testing to ensure a deep understanding of functionality and user experience.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in the technology industry.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for developers and end-users.
- Strong understanding of complex technical concepts and the ability to explain them simply.
- Experience with various documentation tools and content management systems (CMS).
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, cloud technologies, or developer tools.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Basic understanding of programming concepts or scripting languages.
- Portfolio of technical writing samples demonstrating expertise.
