Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as a Full-Time Dock Hand at our Sioux Falls facility. This is an immediate hire opportunity for candidates who successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. As a Dock Hand, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of freight, playing a crucial role in our logistics operations. This physically demanding role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight manually or using powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Sort, scan, and stage freight according to destination and shipping requirements.
- Inspect freight for damage and verify counts against manifests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment on the dock and in the warehouse.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall dock operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull freight weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
- Basic literacy and arithmetic skills for reading labels and verifying counts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or freight handling environment.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial equipment (certification a plus).
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
