Job Description
Jumia is seeking an experienced Backend Shopify Developer with a strong focus on API development and system integrations. You will be instrumental in extending Jumia’s e-commerce capabilities, building robust and scalable backend solutions, and ensuring seamless data flow between Shopify and other critical business systems. This role requires deep expertise in Shopify’s API ecosystem, custom app development, and integrating third-party services to enhance our online retail experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain custom Shopify applications and integrations using Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL API).
- Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal and external system communication.
- Integrate Shopify with various third-party services such as ERPs, CRMs, payment gateways, shipping providers, and marketing automation tools.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and security of all backend systems.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain development best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Shopify backend and integrations.
- Stay up-to-date with Shopify's evolving platform features, APIs, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Backend Developer with significant Shopify API integration expertise.
- Strong proficiency with Shopify's Admin API, Storefront API, and GraphQL API.
- Experience with server-side programming languages such as Ruby (Rails), Node.js (Express), or Python (Django/Flask).
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and development.
- Experience with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git.
- Familiarity with webhook management and event-driven architectures.
- Ability to debug complex integration issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Shopify Plus and large-scale e-commerce operations.
- Knowledge of Liquid templating language for custom theme development.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture.
- Understanding of security best practices in e-commerce.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
