Job Description
Are you passionate about music, especially guitars? Do you have an eye for detail and a willingness to learn a specialized craft? Long & McQuade in Regina is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Music Store Guitar Stringer (Trainee). This is a unique entry-level opportunity to learn the intricate art of guitar stringing and basic instrument maintenance from experienced professionals. You will play a crucial role in preparing instruments for sale, ensuring optimal playability, and assisting customers with their stringing needs. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and accurately perform guitar restringing techniques for acoustic, electric, and bass guitars under supervision.
- Inspect instruments for basic playability issues and report more complex problems to senior technicians.
- Assist customers with string selection and provide advice on string types and gauges.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and ensure proper handling of tools and supplies.
- Support the retail team by assisting with inventory management for strings and accessories.
- Contribute to maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the store.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries and assisting with general store tasks as needed.

- A genuine passion for music and musical instruments, particularly guitars.
- Exceptional attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of different types of guitars and strings.
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role (even if unrelated to music).
- Ability to play a musical instrument (especially guitar) is a plus, but not required.
