Job Description
Are you a high school student with a passion for pets and looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity? PetSmart in New Port Richey is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic High School Pet Groomer Aide to join our grooming salon team on weekends. This is an excellent entry-level role for individuals eager to learn the ropes of professional pet grooming, assist our experienced groomers, and ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all our furry clients. Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional pet groomers with handling and bathing pets.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the grooming salon, including kennels, work areas, and equipment.
- Prepare grooming tools and supplies for groomers.
- Provide basic care and comfort to pets during their stay, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Help with drying pets and basic brushing tasks.
- Greet pet parents warmly and assist with check-ins/check-outs as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies related to animal handling and salon operations.
- Support the team in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for pets and their owners.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in high school or equivalent.
- Genuine love for animals and a compassionate approach to pet care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Must be available to work weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with animal care (e.g., pet ownership, volunteering at a shelter).
- Basic understanding of different dog and cat breeds.
- Customer service experience.
