Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Hospital Cleaner (Environmental Services Aide) to join our full-time team at Dignity Health in Stockton, CA. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within our hospital facilities. Your work directly contributes to patient well-being and infection control, making you an essential part of our healthcare mission. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to strict cleanliness protocols, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, offices, and treatment rooms according to established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, including vacuums, scrubbers, and buffers.
  • Collect and dispose of general waste, biohazardous waste, and sharps containers following strict safety protocols.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in designated areas.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor promptly.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and hospital operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and push/pull carts for extended periods.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in environmental services or cleaning, particularly in a healthcare, hotel, or institutional setting.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
