Job Description

Marathon Petroleum is seeking motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as an Entry Level Derrickhand Trainee. This role offers a unique opportunity for career advancement, providing comprehensive training and hands-on experience in drilling operations. As a Derrickhand Trainee, you will work closely with experienced professionals, learning the essential skills required to operate and maintain drilling equipment, ensure safety protocols, and contribute to efficient well site operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Derrickhand and Driller in all aspects of drilling operations, including tripping pipe, making connections, and running casing.
- Learn to safely operate and maintain drilling equipment, including drawworks, rotary tables, and mud pumps, under direct supervision.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on drilling rig components.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor drilling fluid (mud) properties and assist with mud mixing as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on the derrick floor and other parts of the rig.
- Actively engage in training programs and seek opportunities for skill development and career progression.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to strict operational guidelines.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial, construction, or outdoor labor environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
