Job Description

Join FedEx Freight as a Maintenance Aide and play a crucial role in supporting our skilled team of senior mechanics. You will assist in performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on our diverse range of freight equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior mechanics with preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and general repairs on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other freight equipment.
  • Perform basic tasks such as changing tires, lubricating chassis, replacing lights, and fluid checks under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and accounted for.
  • Support the maintenance team by fetching parts, cleaning components, and preparing vehicles for service.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and DOT regulations.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately, including parts used and time spent on tasks.
  • Participate in training programs and continuous learning initiatives to enhance mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support shop operations.

Required Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Some prior experience in a general labor, automotive, or mechanical setting.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a technical or vocational program focused on diesel mechanics or automotive technology.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
