Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and community-oriented Policy Outreach Coordinator – Junior Level, to join our team in Palmdale, CA. This role is perfect for an individual passionate about public policy and community engagement, eager to make a tangible difference. You will be instrumental in building relationships with local stakeholders, conducting research, and supporting our policy initiatives. This position requires regular travel within the Antelope Valley and occasional travel throughout Los Angeles County to attend meetings, events, and community forums. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of outreach strategies to engage community members, local leaders, and stakeholders in policy discussions.
- Conduct field visits and attend community meetings to gather feedback, identify needs, and represent United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
- Support the research and analysis of local policies, demographic data, and community issues relevant to our mission.
- Prepare concise reports, presentations, and communication materials summarizing outreach efforts and policy recommendations.
- Facilitate and organize community workshops, town halls, and informational sessions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse community groups, government officials, and partner organizations.
- Document interactions and maintain an organized database of contacts and outreach activities.
- Assist in drafting policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure policy initiatives align with broader organizational goals.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to conduct independent research and synthesize information
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Valid California Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or a related field
- Prior experience (including internships or volunteer work) in community outreach, advocacy, or public relations
- Familiarity with the Palmdale/Antelope Valley community
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish is a significant plus)
