Job Description

Join Maximus as a Public Sector Benefits Assessor and play a vital role in our mission to connect individuals with essential public services. In this rewarding office-based position, you will be responsible for evaluating applications for various government benefits programs, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and regulations. You will engage directly with applicants, guiding them through the assessment process, reviewing documentation, and making accurate eligibility determinations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and accurate assessments of applications for public benefits programs.
  • Interview applicants to gather necessary information, ensuring a compassionate and professional approach.
  • Review and verify submitted documentation to confirm eligibility criteria.
  • Maintain meticulous records and detailed case notes in accordance with privacy regulations and program guidelines.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of program requirements and decisions to applicants.
  • Collaborate with team members and other agencies to facilitate comprehensive support for clients.
  • Stay updated on changes to benefits policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform data entry and administrative tasks related to case management and reporting.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer navigation.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role, particularly in social services, public administration, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal public benefits programs and eligibility criteria.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish/English) is a plus.
