Job Description

ModSquad is seeking a dedicated and proactive Remote Google Chat Moderator to join our global team. This role is crucial for maintaining a positive, engaging, and safe environment within our client’s Google Chat communities around the clock. You will be instrumental in fostering vibrant discussions, enforcing community guidelines, and responding to user inquiries and issues with professionalism and efficiency. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic online ecosystem from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor Google Chat communities 24/7, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure adherence to community guidelines and terms of service.
  • Engage with community members, facilitating discussions, answering questions, and promoting positive interactions.
  • Identify and address inappropriate content, spam, harassment, or other violations promptly and professionally.
  • Escalate complex issues or persistent problems to a supervisor or client contact as needed.
  • Provide real-time support and guidance to users, helping them navigate the platform and resolve common issues.
  • Contribute to community growth and engagement strategies, suggesting improvements and new initiatives.
  • Maintain detailed records of moderation actions and community observations.
  • Stay informed about platform updates, community trends, and best practices in online moderation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in online community moderation, social media management, or customer service.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English, with a strong grasp of grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Google Chat and other Google Workspace applications.
  • High level of empathy and conflict resolution skills.
  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet home office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience moderating large, active online communities.
  • Familiarity with various community management tools and platforms.
  • Understanding of online safety best practices and data privacy regulations.
  • Experience with 24/7 shift work or flexible scheduling.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
