Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Milton, Ontario. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals eager to begin a career in logistics and supply chain. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of shipments, focusing on accurate data entry and administrative support. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, tracking inventory, and coordinating with various departments to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs forms.
- Perform accurate data entry of shipping information into internal systems and databases.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against invoices and other records to ensure accuracy.
- Track and trace shipments, providing updates to relevant internal teams and potentially clients.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff for picking, packing, and loading of shipments.
- Assist with inventory management, including conducting periodic stock counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and internal departments regarding shipping schedules and issues.
- Handle general administrative tasks as required to support the shipping department.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
