Job Description

Are you a recent graduate or early-career individual passionate about technology and eager to kickstart your career in Information Technology? The Google IT Resident program is a comprehensive paid training initiative designed to provide fresh talent with invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic enterprise IT environment. This program offers an immersive learning experience, combining structured training with practical project work under the guidance of experienced Google engineers. Residents will gain exposure to Google’s cutting-edge infrastructure, learn best practices in IT operations, support, and systems administration, and develop critical skills essential for a successful career in tech. This program is your gateway to understanding the complexities of large-scale IT systems, troubleshooting real-world issues, and contributing to the stability and efficiency of Google’s global operations. Upon successful completion of the residency, participants will be well-positioned for full-time roles within Google or in the broader tech industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in structured training modules covering networking, operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS), security, and cloud technologies.
  • Provide technical support to internal Google users, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure components.
  • Contribute to documentation of IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on projects related to system upgrades, security enhancements, and automation.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues to ensure smooth IT operations.
  • Learn and apply Google's best practices for incident management, change management, and problem-solving.

Required Skills

  • Recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong foundational understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
  • Demonstrated passion for technology and a strong desire to learn and grow in an IT career.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to tackle complex technical challenges and adapt to new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Linux command line or basic scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with ticketing systems or IT service management tools.
