Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organised Hospital Storeman & Porter with a keen eye for inventory management to join our team at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and other goods within the hospital environment, ensuring that all departments have the resources they need to provide excellent patient care. Your focus on accurate inventory control will be vital to our operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming deliveries of medical supplies, equipment, and general goods.
- Store items safely and efficiently in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper rotation and accessibility.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using the hospital's stock management system, conducting regular stock checks and reconciliations.
- Pick and prepare orders for various hospital departments, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Transport goods, equipment, and sometimes patients safely and courteously throughout the hospital premises.
- Ensure the cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of all storage areas and pathways.
- Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or potential hazards to the relevant supervisor.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, manual handling guidelines, and hospital policies.

- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy items safely
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a storeman, warehouse, or porter role, preferably within a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Basic IT skills for data entry and system use
- Full UK driving licence (if required for off-site duties)
