Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally detail-oriented Pharmacy Quality Control Technician to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance within our pharmacy operations. Your meticulous eye and commitment to precision will be vital in maintaining patient safety and regulatory adherence. Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigorous quality checks on pharmaceutical products, prescriptions, and compounding processes.
- Verify accuracy of medication labeling, dosages, and patient information.
- Conduct routine inspections of pharmacy equipment, facilities, and environmental conditions to ensure compliance with sterile and non-sterile compounding standards.
- Document all quality control activities, deviations, and corrective actions in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the investigation of quality incidents, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures.
- Maintain and calibrate quality control instruments and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations, including USP <797>, <800>, and <795> guidelines as applicable.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to implement and improve quality assurance protocols.
- Provide training and guidance to new staff on quality control procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
Required Skills
- Proven high attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compounding and dispensing processes.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for pharmacies (e.g., FDA, state boards of pharmacy, USP guidelines).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific or related field.
- Previous experience in a quality control or quality assurance role within a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting.
- Experience with aseptic technique and sterile compounding environments.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
