Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our esteemed mental health facility in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This pivotal role involves providing direct nursing care to patients with various mental health conditions, focusing on assessment, intervention, and education. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team and patients.
- Administer medications, monitor for effectiveness and side effects, and provide medication education.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy support.
- Manage crisis situations, ensuring patient and staff safety through de-escalation techniques and appropriate interventions.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Document patient observations, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to all regulatory standards and best practices.
Required Skills
- Current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations effectively.
- Proficiency in administering and monitoring psychiatric medications.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-RN).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of various therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT).
- BLS and ACLS certification.
