Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Paleontology Technical Writer to join our Orem team. This role is crucial in supporting our environmental consulting projects by producing high-quality, scientifically accurate technical reports with a strong focus on paleontological resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating complex scientific data into clear, concise, and compliant documentation for regulatory agencies and clients. This position requires a strong understanding of paleontological methods, environmental regulations, and exceptional writing and editing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and review technical reports, proposals, and other project documentation related to paleontological resources and environmental impact assessments.
  • Ensure all written materials comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, NHPA) and client-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with paleontologists, geologists, archaeologists, and other environmental specialists to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Manage document version control, formatting, and submission processes.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to support report content.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent editorial style and voice across all project deliverables.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and other communication materials.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in technical writing, preferably within environmental consulting or a related scientific field.
  • Strong understanding of paleontological principles, fieldwork, and laboratory analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., NEPA, CEQA).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Paleontology, Geology, Environmental Science, Technical Writing, or a related field.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with style guides such as Chicago Manual of Style or scientific journal standards.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and document management systems.
