Job Description
Join the legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey team as a Circus Big Top Setup Laborer! This is a physically demanding role that requires significant travel and a strong work ethic. You will be an integral part of our crew, responsible for the safe and efficient assembly and disassembly of our iconic big top tent, staging, and all associated equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in the physical setup and breakdown of the circus big top tent and all ancillary structures.
- Unload, transport, and arrange heavy equipment, staging, seating, and props according to precise schematics.
- Assist with the installation of lighting, sound, and rigging equipment, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Perform general site maintenance and ensure cleanliness of the performance area before and after shows.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure all tasks are completed on schedule and to high standards.
- Travel extensively with the circus troupe, adapting to new locations and environments regularly.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly and for extended periods.
- Exceptional physical stamina, strength, and endurance for demanding labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Willingness to travel frequently and for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and practices in a construction or event setup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in general labor, construction, theatrical rigging, or large-scale event setup.
- Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, or other heavy machinery (certification a plus).
- Valid driver's license, CDL Class A or B is a significant advantage.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with tool maintenance.
