Job Description

Join GFL Environmental as a Battery Recycling Operative and become a vital part of our mission to sustainably manage hazardous waste. This role offers specialist training to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently handle, sort, and process various types of batteries for recycling. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely unload, inspect, and identify incoming battery shipments following strict protocols.
  • Operate specialized equipment and machinery for sorting, disassembling, and processing batteries.
  • Adhere rigorously to all company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and handling guidelines for hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring equipment is kept in good working order.
  • Record and log material movements, quantities, and processing stages accurately.
  • Participate in regular safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily production and recycling targets.
  • Report any safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or procedural deviations immediately to supervision.

Required Skills

  • Strong commitment to safety and following established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and complete basic paperwork.

Preferred Qualifications
