Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Environmental Scientist with a strong consulting background to join our dynamic team in Wesley Chapel, FL. This pivotal role involves leading complex environmental projects, providing expert technical guidance, managing client relationships, and driving business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in environmental regulations, site assessments, remediation strategies, and permitting, coupled with a proven track record in project leadership and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex environmental projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise in environmental site assessments, due diligence, remediation design, regulatory compliance, and permitting.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
- Develop and implement strategic business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and networking.
- Ensure projects comply with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, NEPA).
- Oversee data interpretation, technical report writing, and presentation of findings to clients and regulatory agencies.
- Manage project finances, including forecasting, budgeting, and invoicing.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities and expand AECOM's market presence in the environmental sector.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting.
- Expertise in federal and Florida state environmental regulations (e.g., FDEP, EPA).
- Proven track record in leading and managing multi-disciplinary environmental projects.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical report writing and client presentations.
- Proficiency in environmental site assessment (Phase I, Phase II ESA), remediation technologies, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain professional certifications relevant to the environmental field (e.g., P.G., P.E. in Florida).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Geologist (P.G.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, energy).
- Demonstrated business development success and client acquisition.
- Familiarity with GIS software and environmental modeling tools.
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification with current 8-hour refreshers.
