Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Learning Support Aide to join our team on a part-time, term-time basis. This vital role involves providing direct support to students, individually or in small groups, across various subjects and activities, under the guidance of a class teacher. You will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive learning environment, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children’s development and well-being within a school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
- Help prepare learning materials and resources, adapting them to meet individual student requirements.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide feedback to the class teacher.
- Support students' social and emotional development, promoting positive behavior and self-esteem.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, tidy, and stimulating learning environment.
- Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips as required.
- Liaise effectively with parents/carers, teachers, and other professionals.
- Participate in relevant training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and young people.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths and English or equivalent).
- Understanding of child development and learning processes.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing classroom needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of various learning strategies and resources.
- First Aid qualification.
