Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Records Management Specialist to provide critical support to a federal agency in Pasco, WA. This role focuses on the comprehensive management of digital assets, including those related to social media platforms like Pinterest, ensuring compliance with federal records laws, regulations, and agency policies. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and security of official records, contributing to efficient government operations and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain records management policies and procedures in accordance with NARA guidelines and agency-specific requirements.
  • Classify, organize, and index digital records, including multimedia content from platforms such as Pinterest, ensuring proper categorization and metadata tagging.
  • Manage the lifecycle of federal records from creation to disposition, including archival, retention, and destruction processes.
  • Provide expert advice and training to federal agency staff on records management best practices, legal obligations, and system usage.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of records management systems and processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond to information requests, FOIA requests, and e-discovery inquiries by retrieving and preparing relevant records.
  • Utilize and manage electronic records management systems (ERMS) and other information governance tools.
  • Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure the secure handling and storage of sensitive federal information.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in records management, information governance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of federal records management regulations, including NARA requirements (e.g., 36 CFR Chapter XII, Subchapter B).
  • Proficiency with electronic records management systems (ERMS) and document management software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a federal agency environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for federal agency support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) or Information Governance Professional (IGP) certification.
  • Experience with social media recordkeeping and digital asset management.
  • Prior experience supporting federal government contracts or agencies.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
