Job Description

Vets4Pets Harrogate is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Vet Receptionist Trainee to join our welcoming team. This entry-level position offers a comprehensive career path in veterinary reception, providing you with the skills and knowledge to become a vital part of our practice. You will be the first point of contact for our clients, playing a crucial role in creating a positive and comforting experience for both pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greeting clients and their pets upon arrival, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Answering incoming calls and emails, scheduling appointments, and managing the practice diary efficiently.
  • Processing payments, handling invoices, and maintaining accurate client and patient records.
  • Assisting clients with general inquiries and providing basic information about our services and products.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
  • Supporting the veterinary team with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Learning and adhering to all practice protocols and safety procedures.
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of veterinary terminology and services.
  • Handling client concerns and escalating issues to senior staff when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet).
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role (any industry).
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software (e.g., VetSpace, RxWorks) is a bonus, but not required.
  • An understanding of basic animal welfare and care principles.
