Job Description
BrightView Landscapes is seeking dedicated and reliable Snow Plow Operators for the upcoming winter season in the St. Paul area. This is a critical seasonal role with emergency pay, focused on ensuring our clients’ properties remain safe and accessible during snowfall and icy conditions. As a Snow Plow Operator, you will be an essential part of our team, working diligently to clear snow from parking lots, roadways, and other designated areas, and applying de-icing materials as needed. This position requires flexibility to work irregular hours, often on short notice, based on weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Operate snow plows, salt spreaders, and other heavy equipment to remove snow and ice from commercial properties.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Apply de-icing materials as directed to prevent ice formation and ensure safe surfaces.
- Respond promptly to snow and ice events, often during irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and operational procedures to minimize risks to self, colleagues, and the public.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress and any issues encountered.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage of equipment and materials.
- Document work performed, including hours, routes, and materials used.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a snow removal capacity.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice.
- Physical stamina to withstand demanding weather conditions and perform manual tasks (e.g., shoveling, lifting).
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
- Previous professional snow plowing and de-icing experience in a commercial setting.
- Knowledge of local weather patterns and snow removal best practices.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
