Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Unarmed Federal Courthouse Security Guard to join our team in North Vancouver. This critical role involves maintaining a safe and secure environment for federal employees, visitors, and assets within a courthouse setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent observational skills, a calm demeanor, and a strong commitment to public safety and service. This is an on-site position requiring vigilant presence and adherence to strict security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, checking for security breaches, unauthorized persons, and suspicious activities.
- Monitor surveillance equipment (CCTV) and alarm systems.
- Control access to the courthouse, verifying identification and screening individuals and their belongings as per federal regulations.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations, following established procedures.
- Provide clear and concise incident reports, documenting all security-related occurrences.
- Assist visitors and employees with information and directions in a professional and courteous manner.
- Enforce courthouse policies and procedures to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid BC Security Worker Licence (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Exceptional observation and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and system monitoring.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Criminology, Justice Studies).
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.
- Knowledge of federal security protocols and courthouse operations.
