Job Description

Join Ryder System, Inc. as a Mobile Tire Pressure Checker for our Community Fleet care program in Dallas, TX. This vital role involves traveling to various customer locations within the Dallas metropolitan area to perform routine tire pressure checks and basic visual inspections on a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring that our community’s fleet vehicles maintain optimal tire pressure, which is crucial for safety, fuel efficiency, and tire longevity. This position is ideal for individuals who are meticulous, enjoy working independently, and are committed to maintaining high standards of vehicle care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a company vehicle to travel to various customer sites within the Dallas area.
  • Perform accurate and consistent tire pressure checks on a wide range of commercial fleet vehicles.
  • Record tire pressure readings and any observed issues (e.g., visible damage, excessive wear) accurately using provided digital tools or forms.
  • Inflate tires to recommended specifications using portable air compressors.
  • Communicate effectively with fleet managers or designated personnel at customer locations.
  • Report any significant tire-related issues or potential safety concerns to a supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain all assigned tools and equipment in good working order and ensure the company vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while performing duties.

Required Skills

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with automotive tire systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a automotive, fleet maintenance, or service role.
  • Experience using portable air compressors and digital tire gauges.
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle types.
