Job Description
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for photography and digital asset management? Shutterstock is seeking a motivated Digital Archivist with a strong focus on photographic assets to join our remote team. In this role, you will be instrumental in organizing, cataloging, and preserving our extensive collection of digital images, ensuring they are accurately tagged, easily retrievable, and maintained to the highest archival standards. Key Responsibilities
- Ingest, organize, and process digital photographic assets into our Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
- Apply rich and accurate metadata, keywords, and descriptive information to images, adhering to established cataloging standards and best practices.
- Perform quality control checks on digital files for technical specifications, image integrity, and metadata accuracy.
- Conduct regular audits of the digital archive to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring data consistency.
- Collaborate with content creators, legal teams, and other stakeholders to understand content needs and optimize retrieval processes.
- Assist in developing and refining archival policies, procedures, and workflows for digital photographic content.
- Research and implement industry best practices for digital preservation and asset management.
- Provide technical support and training on DAM system usage to internal teams as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in digital archiving, library science, or digital asset management, with a strong focus on photographic materials.
- Proficiency with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and content management platforms.
- Excellent understanding of metadata standards (e.g., IPTC, XMP, Dublin Core) and controlled vocabularies.
- Strong knowledge of digital image formats, file types, and technical specifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Science, Photography, or a related field.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Lightroom) for basic image review.
- Familiarity with intellectual property rights and copyright principles related to digital media.
- Previous experience working in a global, remote team setting.
