Job Description

Are you a budding biomedical engineer eager to make a real impact on patient care? Medtronic Canada is seeking a highly motivated Biomedical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team in Miramichi. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a ‘startup-like’ project focused on the rapid development and testing of innovative medical devices. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, gaining hands-on experience in the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design to prototyping and testing. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of medical device prototypes using CAD software.
  • Conduct laboratory testing, data collection, and analysis on new device components and systems.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test protocols, and reports.
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative solutions.
  • Research relevant medical technologies, materials, and regulatory standards.
  • Support quality control and assurance activities for medical device components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and clinical affairs.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of engineering principles, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or research setting.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations (e.g., ISO 13485, Health Canada).
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
  • Basic knowledge of prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing).
  • Demonstrated interest in medical device innovation through personal projects or coursework.
