Job Description
Join our elite team as a Flight Nurse (RN) specializing in Aeromedical Transport with a critical emergency focus. This role requires an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse to provide advanced critical care to patients during air medical transport. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a dynamic and challenging pre-hospital and inter-facility environment. This position demands exceptional clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure while ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes during transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced critical care to patients during aeromedical transport, including assessment, intervention, and stabilization.
- Operate specialized medical equipment and administer medications in a confined and high-stress environment.
- Collaborate effectively with pilots, paramedics, and ground crews to ensure seamless patient care and transport operations.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient care documentation, including medical records and transport logs.
- Participate in ongoing training, simulations, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical skills and operational readiness.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies, ensuring the highest standards of patient and crew safety.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks of medical equipment and supplies, ensuring operational readiness.
Required Skills
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum of 3 years of critical care experience (ICU, ED, or Flight/Transport).
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (or equivalent trauma certification).
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment in various conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification.
- Previous flight or critical care transport experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Advanced trauma life support (ATLS) or equivalent training.
- Experience with rotor-wing (helicopter) operations.
