Job Description
Join Richardson International as a Grain Silo Sweeper in Port Alberni, BC. This physically demanding role involves maintaining the cleanliness and operational efficiency of our grain silos and facilities. You will be responsible for sweeping, shoveling, and operating small equipment in a dusty environment to ensure a safe and organized workspace. We offer a high hourly rate for dedicated individuals who are committed to safety and meticulous work. This is an essential on-site position vital to our operations, requiring diligence and adherence to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual sweeping, shoveling, and cleaning of grain silos, storage areas, and surrounding facilities.
- Operate various cleaning equipment, including vacuum systems, brooms, and other small machinery.
- Inspect work areas for potential hazards and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks as directed, ensuring equipment is in good working order.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and government regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with supervisors and colleagues.
- Manage and dispose of grain dust and debris according to environmental and safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and development programs.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working at heights.
- Comfortable working in dusty and confined spaces (with proper PPE).
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following protocols.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial, agricultural, or warehouse setting.
