Job Description

Are you passionate about music and helping others? Intermountain Healthcare is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Music Therapy Assistant. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity where no prior experience in music therapy is required; we provide comprehensive training! As a Music Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a certified Music Therapist, assisting in the delivery of music-based interventions to support patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs. You will play a vital role in creating a positive and healing environment, contributing to our patients’ well-being and recovery journeys. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact through the power of music.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified Music Therapists in implementing individual and group music therapy sessions.
  • Prepare and organize musical instruments, materials, and equipment for therapy sessions.
  • Engage patients in musical activities, including singing, playing instruments, listening to music, and songwriting.
  • Observe and document patient responses and progress during sessions, reporting relevant information to the supervising therapist.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment.
  • Provide encouragement and support to patients to foster participation and engagement.
  • Learn and apply therapeutic techniques and strategies as guided by the supervising therapist.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.

  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
