Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a career in home improvement with hands-on training? The Home Depot Canada in Kitchener is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Carpet Padding Installer, assisting our experienced specialists. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a valuable trade from the ground up, contributing to high-quality flooring installations for our customers. You will work alongside skilled professionals, learning best practices in carpet padding preparation and installation, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead installers with the preparation of subfloors for carpet padding installation.
- Measure, cut, and lay carpet padding accurately according to project specifications.
- Help transport and organize materials and tools to and from job sites.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during the installation process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, both on-site and in company vehicles.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for securing padding and preparing for carpet overlay.
- Communicate effectively with lead installers and team members.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Basic understanding of measurements and using hand tools.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Reliable transportation to the job site/store location.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labor role or construction environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of flooring materials or installation techniques.
- Valid G Class driver's license.
