Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Logging Truck Driver to join our regional forestry operations. This role is crucial for the efficient and safe transport of timber from harvest sites to mills and processing plants. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy-duty logging trucks, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and maintaining vehicle integrity. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate logging trucks and related equipment to transport timber from designated forest sites to processing facilities.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as company safety policies.
  • Secure loads properly using binders, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting or falling during transit.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage reports, and delivery documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, forestry supervisors, and mill personnel.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on vehicles as needed, or report major mechanical issues promptly.
  • Navigate diverse terrain, including unpaved forest roads, in varying weather conditions.
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and development programs.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial truck driving experience, preferably in logging or heavy hauling.
  • Clean driving record (MVR).
  • Proficiency in securing loads and operating heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with different types of logging trailers (e.g., pole trailers, short log trailers).
  • Familiarity with forestry operations and timber species.
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • High school diploma or GED.
