Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle on designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Execute efficient drop and hook procedures at various customer locations.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and submit all necessary paperwork promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Manage time effectively to ensure timely deliveries and pickups without rushing.
- Represent Werner Enterprises professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP report
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) rules
- Proficiency with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dry van freight specifically in drop and hook operations
- Familiarity with various transportation management systems
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor roadside adjustments
- A strong commitment to safety and customer service
