Job Description

Canadian National Railway (CN) is looking for dedicated Railroad Track Maintenance Workers to join our dynamic team in Brandon, Manitoba. This critical role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing essential maintenance and repair of railway tracks and infrastructure. You will be part of a travelling crew, ensuring the safety and reliability of our extensive rail network across various locations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform track inspections, maintenance, and repair activities, including replacing rails, ties, and ballasts.
- Operate heavy equipment such as spike pullers, tie handlers, rail saws, and grinders.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict adherence to CN's safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Participate in emergency track repairs and respond to incidents as required.
- Work collaboratively with crew members to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Travel extensively to various work sites across the region, often staying in remote locations for extended periods.
- Work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational needs and project schedules.
Required Skills
- Ability to travel extensively for extended periods.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous manual labour outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to strict safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn to operate heavy equipment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in heavy construction, general labour, or railway maintenance.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or specialized railway equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
