Job Description

Estée Lauder Companies is seeking a highly motivated Junior Formulation Chemist to join our Skincare Innovation Lab in Santa Maria, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior chemists in the formulation and development of new cosmetic and skincare products.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, prepare batches, and perform stability testing on formulations.
- Accurately record and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks.
- Source and evaluate raw materials, understanding their function and safety profiles.
- Perform quality control tests on raw materials and finished products according to established protocols.
- Contribute to troubleshooting formulation challenges and improving existing products.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of chemistry principles.
- Excellent laboratory skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated passion for the cosmetics and skincare industry.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or academic project experience in a laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with cosmetic raw materials and formulation techniques.
- Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
